"What happened to Atiku has nothing to do with Wike, it was mainly Igbo factor and Obi factor"Adetokunbo Pearse, a Public Affairs Analyst and Convener of Reset Lagos PDP, asserts bluntly in an interview on TVC TV that Atiku’s election victory was mostly influenced by the “Igbo factor” and Peter Obi’s popularity rather than Nyesom Wike. He rejects Wike’s assertion of authority and proposes that neither Wike nor Atiku has any real influence over the PDP as a whole, and that Wike only has authority over the National Working Committee of the party, which he shaped during its election. He notes that Wike’s influence is inflated and he has limited impact beyond the positions he influenced.

He said, “When the election comes, we support the candidate that comes up. During the presidential campaign, Atiku was the nominee of the party and that is the person that the party supported. Wike succeeded in one or two places to displace Atiku but Atiku won 12 states. What happened to Atiku had nothing to do with Wike, it was mainly Igbo factor and Obi factor. That is really what happened to us. Wike appears to be larger than he is, to be more successful than he is. Apart from the National Working Committee where he (Wike) had influenced the election of some members.
