In a TVC interview, Akinterinwa revealed that after returning from a trip to Germany, Akeredolu had discussed his wish for him (Akinterinwa) to become his governor. In addition, Akinterinwa declared his desire to run for governor and gave assurance that he would receive the APC ticket.
In Akinterinwa’s words: “Akeredolu told me he would want me to take over from him and he prayed for me. I am aware that he told certain people about that desire. I didn’t take particular note of the date but it happened immediately after he came back from his trip to Germany. At the appropriate time, I will announce my intention which is really not in doubt but I am still making further consultation and I can assure you I will get the ticket. the people are with me”.
