The former Executive Secretary of the NHIS, Professor Usman Yusuf, has discussed a recent meeting between the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, and the Emir of Kano. However, in an interview with Arise TV, Yusuf stated that the Emir’s message was a “coded” message that served as a reminder to Tinubu about the realities on the ground, especially if he was not regularly informed by the media or his advisers.
In Yusuf’s words: “When the first lady visited Emir of Kano 2 weeks ago, the Emir of Kano told her to go and tell Tinubu there is hunger in the land and our people are suffering, it was a coded message. Because if the president does not read the papers, if he does not go through social media, if his advisers will not tell him the truth the Emir, was telling the wife, go and tell Mr President”.
