In a recent report by Punch, Uche highlighted historical evidence from the Henry Willink Commission in 1957, where Ikwerre leaders asserted that the area from Port Harcourt to Onitsha was Igbo land. He said the Commission’s report, published in April 1958, explicitly stated that the Ikwerre are Igbo people, and it identified Port Harcourt as an Igbo town. Uche said this historical documentation, presented by Uche, serves as evidence supporting the assertion that the Ikwerre are indeed part of the Igbo tribe.
