Experienced politician Okupe said that Obi has little chance of winning if he runs under LP. He said that although he is not obligated to back Peter Obi or the Labour Party, he is providing his candid opinion as a prominent politician.

Okupe expressed the view that Obi’s decision to explore a merger with Atiku Abubakar is a more reasonable approach, indicating a potential shift in strategy. He stated that the best way to deal with it in the next election is for parties to form a merger.

According to him, “I’m a politician and a very experienced one, and Peter Obi is my brother. Although I’m not, I mean, I told you, we formed the special purpose vehicle for him to be president; he didn’t become president; that purpose has expired. So, you know, I’m not obliged to him, to the Labour Party, or whatever. But as a politician, as a senior brother who understands the terrain, if he runs under labour, I can put down the little money I have for anybody; he’s going to lose. I heard recently that he’s going to meet with Atiku, and they are talking about the possibility of a merger.
