Okuama: They brought out my late brother son almost naked as he was taking a bath—According to Edwin ClarkEdwin Clark, the Elderstateman and Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has disclosed how the army raided and occupied his country house, Kiagbodo, Delta State, both by air and on land, all in the name of finding arms. The Elderstateman claimed to have received a call from an individual identifying himself as the commanding officer of the Nigerian Army’s Division in Port Harcourt. According to him, a Nigerian Army tracker had located Mr. Vote, the Okuoma Community leader, who the Army was searching for in connection with the deaths of the 17 Nigerian Army soldiers, at a residence in Ughelli.

He added that the military brokered his house and ransacked it before they were informed that the house belongs to him and they apologized to him. He stated that as a leader who was against the killing of the soldiers, he accepted the apology from the officers.

He argued that he went to sympathize with the soldiers over the tragic incident that occurred in Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. He also said that assured to collaborate with the military to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

However, he said that he got the information that the military have stormed his community again and this time around they destroyed his house doors which was locked for security reasons as he now reside in Abuja. He also said that his staff living in his building, including lecturers at the university were also destroyed, adding that they sat on bare ground.

He alledge that the military also broke his late brother’s house (Ambassador Akporode Blessing Clark) who had served the country internationally in various capacities, including as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and that both of them share the same premises.

He further alledge that the military brought his late brother’s son almost naked as he was taking his bath. He also said that his mobile phones were seized. He argued that the residents have to identify his house to the military before they requested for his number.

He blamed the military for their actions, asserting that the military would have contacted him before undergoing any destruction.

According to Vanguard, he said, “They brought out his son almost naked, as the young man was taking a bath, when they stormed the house.

All their phones were seized. The people had to identify themselves, and told them whose house it was, before they asked for my telephone number, which they said they will pass to their “oga”’, before they all departed. One would have expected that at this juncture, a call could have been put to the Governor of Delta State, to inform him of what happened.
