Odinkalu Response After Reading The Letter That Bwala Sent To President Of Ghana About David Hundeyin

Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, a human rights activist and lawyer, responded to the letter Daniel Bwala wrote to the president of Ghana regarding David Hundeyin. He expressed his response in a post on Sunday on his official X Twitter. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In a post that Bwala shared on his official X handle, he accused David Hundeyin of trying to set the Unite State of America, Ghana and Nigeria against one another.

Daniel Bwala wrote on his page;

“Dear President Nana Akufo Addo, Thank you for granting refugee status to David Hundeyin, a Nigerian activist who claims, that his life is at stake in Nigeria. We all support the protection of human rights and free press and would fight to uphold it. However, by virtue of UN international law, which Ghana is a signatory to, a refugee is prohibited from certain actions, including inciting disaffection against the home or host governments. That being the case, I find it strange that Mr. Hundeyin will attempt to set the United States, Ghana, and Nigeria against each other by alleging, without proof, that the Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is an agent of the American government”.

However, Chidi Odinkalu has now reacted after reading the letter that Daniel Bwala sent to the President of Ghana. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he said Daniel Bwala misrepresented the refugee law.

Chidi Anselm Odinkalu wrote on his page;

“This is a wilful misrepresentation of refugee law. The exclusion provisions in Act 1(f) of the 1951 Refugee Convention do not cover free expression, nor do they extend to what you call incitement”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
