Several Nigerians have taken to the streets to express their grievances regarding the hike in the prices of commodities and the rising inflation level, which was said to have followed the removal of fuel subsidies by the current administration led by Bola Tinubu.

However, in a video posted by Sahara TV, the Labour Party LP flagbearer, Peter Obi, made reference to the life and times of Gani Fawehinmi, a Nigerian author who criticised the hike in the prices of fuel in the former administrations.

In his words, the price of fuel when Gani Fawehinmi was protesting was below a hundred naira, and if he were alive today when the price had skyrocketed to a thousand naira, he would have been admitted to a hospital.
