SaharaReporters claims that Soyinka charged Obi with managing the internet trolls that were hurling obscenities at him and other well-known individuals who had unfavorable opinions about the party’s campaign. He disclosed that he was frequently attacked on social media, particularly by X, by Obi’s followers, also referred to as “Obidients.”

“It has to do with education. I didn’t read all these insults by the Obidient Movement, but some links were sent to me, especially when facts were being manufactured,” Soyinka said. “When I read these things, I was disgusted. There’s no other word for it. I really was disgusted and I know that it was orchestrated.”

Soyinka alleged that there was a relay mechanism triggered by those controlling the trolls, which contributed to his contempt. He emphasized that no one could stop him from expressing his truth and criticized those aspiring to be political leaders for encouraging such behavior among the youth.

The literary icon described the online trolls as “foot soldiers” and warned that they might eventually turn against those who trained them. Soyinka lamented the phenomenon as particularly troubling for leaders aspiring to preside over a diverse society.

Reflecting on Obi’s candidacy in the last election, Soyinka stated, “I hope for the sake of the nation that he doesn’t express interest in the next election because for me as a leader, if there was any proof that he was unfit to lead that country, it’s in the conduct which he encouraged among his followers.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
