Obi Response after Dave Umahi said he demolished structures without compensating the owners in Anambra

Using social media, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi refuted Minister of Works Dave Umahi’s allegations that, while serving as governor of Anambra State, he demolished people’s buildings without compensating them for their losses.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Recall that former Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi had few hours ago, criticized Peter Obi for speaking against the ongoing demolitions for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway, as he accused the businessman of demolishing structures without compensating the owners of such structures in Anambra State, unlike his ministry that plans on compensating the people that their structures will be demolished.

And so Peter Obi in response to such accusation, took to his official X account to state that he strongly denounce the distortion of facts surrounding his actions and statements during his tenure as governor of Anambra State, particularly concerning the ongoing demolitions for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway.

According to the Labour Party chieftain, he made it clear that all structures obstructing existing roads and lacking government approval would be removed during his time as governor of Anambra State, adding that he only initiated removal of such structures when construction had already commenced.

Peter Obi further challenged people to show him where the demolished structures on existing roads were not encroaching on the road and built without government approval, adding that he refuse to be reduced to the level of ethnic politics and his commitment to serving with integrity remains unwavering.

The businessman then disclosed that he built a new Onitsha North local government office and converted the Onitsha South stadium into a local government office, adding that his action was necessary to restore the stadium in his state to its original purpose.

Peter Obi finally stated that he focused on removing obstructions on existing roads to enhance accessibility and safety for all, adding that he will continue to insist that the country’s national resources be applied with maximum frugality. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
