This loss is their fourth consecutive match without a victory in the ongoing qualification campaign.

Nigerian football fans have taken to social media to air their outrage and frustration.

According to Sahara Reporters, Samstar, a prominent commentator, took to X to label George a “clueless” and calling for his immediate removal.

He said, “Finidi George is just a clueless coach. Please sack him now…”

Buchi Laba expressed deep regret over advocating for George’s appointment, denouncing his own judgment as “stupid.”

He said, “I pushed heavily for Finidi George to get the job. I’m a very stupid person. Never ever take any advise coming from me.”

Alabi said, “José Paseiro made a team out of a disjointed and mixed experienced set of players. He took them to the final and was defeated by a difference of one goal. The NFF deemed it not to renew his contract and he was let go.

“They appointed Finidi George whose only managerial experience was Enyimba FC. These people appointed Finidi and gave him the task to take Nigeria to the World Cup.”

Alabi added that Super Eagles could not beat a 97th ranked Benin Republic, adding that the Super Eagles would miss another World Cup.

Akin Akinwale lamented the team’s predicament and questioned the wisdom behind George’s appointment.

He said, “Who recommended Finidi as Super Eagles coach? I really want to know. This is hurtful.

“Now we begin to do calculations to qualify for World Cup. We couldn’t win our home games. We are still losing to Benin on a neutral ground.

“Finidi George, thanks for your services, please resign.”

Mashood Abiola said, “He should just resign. Obviously, he can’t handle the team. In a must-win game, I don’t know why you have to bench your most prolific attacker. Secondly, the defence line was too porous. It will be difficult for us to qualify this way. We have the players, but no coach.”READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
