In the ongoing African Cup of Nations, Nigeria and Cameroon, two fierce rivals in regional football, squared off once more on Saturday in the round of 16. However, a brace from Ademola Lookman allowed Nigeria to defeat the Cameroonian team in the end. Nigeria’s victory has guaranteed them a spot in the quarterfinals, where they will take on Angola.

In his reaction to the game, Shehu Sani said that when it comes to African football, Cameroon has a history of always being a big problem to Nigeria, and that they were thinking that it was going to be business as usual, and because of that they became too confident, but this time they were defeated.

He said that the lesson to learn from this game is that nothing in life is constant, and that even victory and defeat are temporary.

In the statement he made on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said, “Cameroon has a footballing history of defeating or upsetting Nigeria in continental tournaments. They relied on this history and became complacent, but this time they were defeated.
