Oba Segun Aremu-Cole, a monarch of Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area, was recently assassinated by bandits who broke into his castle in Koro town. In the process, his wife was kidnapped as well.
This was followed by the killing of two other monarchs in Ekiti State – Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola and Elesun of Esun, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsona – when they were on their way back from a security meeting.
One of the monarchs who escaped the attack that day, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, while narrating the experience disclosed that the bandits did not understand English, and that they were carrying AK-47. He also confessed that the bandits shot at him, but the bullets did not penetrate his body.
In a statement he released, Gani Adams said that the security situation in Yorubaland has become so bad that some people are now afraid of going to their farms, and that travellers are now being abducted along the highways.
According to the report by Vanguard, he said, “Never in the history of Yoruba were three Obas shot dead in a spate of four days. So, evil has entered Yorubaland.
“And as our progenitors did, we must not appease this evil in our land. It must be dealt with immediately and decisively.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
