My Wife Received Around 2000 to 3000 Calls Per Day –According to Akpabio On Backlash from Remarks to Sen Natasha

Senate President Godswill Akpabio reportedly told Daily Post that when someone posted his wife’s phone number online, Nigerians began phoning her. He made this statement earlier today in the Senate plenary, when he expressed his regret for his comments made to Kogi State representative Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, at last Thursday’s session.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Akpabio had cautioned Akpoti-Uduaghan during that session when she attempted to speak without obtaining his recognition, saying the Senate was not a nightclub.

In his words on the occasion, he said:

“You see Senator Natasha, in the chamber, you have to be recognized before you speak. We’re not in a nightclub.”

However, the comment irked many Nigerians, who felt that it was inappropriate and denigrating to the female senator. It was against this backdrop that a blogger, Gistlover, published a list of celebrity women that Akpabio is allegedly romantically involved with along with his and his wife’s phone number.

During plenary earlier today, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State apologized to the Kogi Senator for the comment.

He said in part: “We are still learning, even those of us who have been in the Senate for 16 years, we are still learning.

“But in the cause of speaking with one of my distinguished sisters on not speaking when not recognized, I made reference to the fact that we are not in a night club where people have to shout above the noise of the music.

“The social media went agog, my wife called me that they published her number and she received around 2,000 to 3,000 calls per day.”

“I will not intentionally denigrate any woman, I have a wife and four daughters and I always pray that God will lift a girl to the highest zenith in Nigeria politically and in business. So Senator Natasha I want to apologize to you if you felt offended.”

Explaining that his words were totally misunderstood, he said netizens went overboard into his personal life, saying he wouldn’t want to say what they did to him.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
