Mixed Reactions As Nigerians Storm The Streets In Minna To Protest Economic Hardship And High Living Cost

Residents of Minna, Niger State, have staged a demonstration in the streets because they are fed up with the economic hardship and high cost of living that Nigerians have been facing lately.

According to the media report, women and children were part of the protest, and they were chanting protest songs to air their frustration.

The protesters said that they took to the street to protest because of the high cost of food items and the lack of effective approach from the government to address the situation.

In the photos and videos which have been shared online, security operatives including police officers were seen looking on as the protest went on.

The protesters said that they blocked major roads so that the government could hear their cry.

The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, is said to have come out to address the protesters, saying that the government is aware of the hardship that the people are facing.

He added that the government is working towards addressing the situation and also cushioning the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy.
