Social media users have responded in a variety of ways to the statement made by Senator Dino Melaye, a former Kogi congressman who represented Kogi Central in the National Assembly, that the pay of Kogi state’s first-class traditional rulers has been reduced to N199,000. In the post that he titled, “Degrading Monthly Salary Of Traditional Rulers In Kogi State”, he said the salary of some traditional rulers in the state have been degraded. Dino Melaye said first class traditional rulers will now earn N199, 000 as monthly salary while second class traditional rulers will earn N149,000. He said third class traditional rulers will earn N99,000 while ungraded traditional rulers will earn N30,000.
