Man who fatally stabbed his friend to death reports to police that he did it under the influence of hard drugs

On Monday, April 1, 2024, information was gathered that a young guy who was accused of fatally stabbing his friend with a knife admitted to police officers from the Kano State Police Command that he had been under the influence of strong drugs when he did the act. The man, identified as 25-year-old Abba Garba Ibrahim, was apprehended by members of the Panshekara Division of the command after stabbing his companion, identified as 22-year-old Zaharadeen Illiyasu, with a knife. The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who announced the incident in a statement posted on his Facebook wall, disclosed that a distress call was received that there was a disagreement between the two friends which made Ibrahim to bring out a knife and used it stab Illiyasu on his neck.

He was said to have thereafter fled the scene after the friend fell on the ground.

However, following the receipt of the distress call, policemen were said to have got to the scene, took Illiyasu to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a doctor on duty confirmed him dead on arrival.

The police operatives thereafter launched a manhunt for his arrest and this paid off when he was arrested while he was attempting to escape to Niger Republic.

According to the statement, during his interrogation, he was said to have confessed killing his friend, saying he committed the act under the influence of hard drugs.

The statement added that he had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more interrogation after which he is expected to be charged to court.
