In an interview with TVC, Oshoma warned that if the situation persists, it could prompt the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State. He said if it becomes impossible for the assembly to function properly, the responsibility of legislating for the state could be taken over by the National Assembly. He stressed the need for the elders in the state and all parties involved to come together and find a resolution to the issue.

In Oshoma’s words: “With the way they are going, soon a State of Emergency might be declared in Rivers State. Because it will become impracticable for the State House of Assembly to sit and legislate and when that becomes impracticable, the National Assembly might have to take over the responsibility of legislating for that state”.
