Ndume claimed in an Abuja speech that the planned decree will force wealthy Nigerians to reveal the sources of their riches or risk having it taken from them by the government. Citing it as a step against corruption, he praised President Tinubu’s recent order to put crude oil income into a centralized account at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Ndume emphasized the importance of scrutinizing personal finances, including his own, to foster transparency and address national concerns. He cautioned against dismissing the issue as trivial, urging a focus on broader national interests.
