Labour House Raid: Demands International Intervention, Staff Ordered to Stay Away, NLC Speaks Out

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has denounced the Wednesday night incursion by armed security personnel into its headquarters, Labour House. According to Vanguard, NLC issued a statement in which it called for an international investigation into the incident and instructed employees to avoid the area until further notice.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

According to the statement, security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and others in mufti invaded the 10th floor of Labour House, arrested the security operative on duty, and ransacked the bookshop on the 2nd floor, carting away hundreds of books and publications. The operatives claimed to be searching for seditious materials used for the hunger protests.

NLC described the invasion as a new low in security operations in Nigeria, showing no legal documentation and resembling the dark days of military rule. The organization expressed concern about the deterioration of democratic principles and the bid to turn Nigeria into a Police State.

NLC demanded the withdrawal of security agents, the return of seized materials, and an international inquiry. If harassment continues, NLC threatened to call on its members to stay home until their safety and security are assured.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
