The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has extended an invitation to the Israelis to come and offer security in the federal capital, according to the Katsina Elders’ Forum (KEF), which has voiced concerns about the growing abduction and security issues in Abuja. The group made this statement while denouncing the federal government’s decision to move the corporate headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other divisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from Abuja to Lagos.
During an interaction with newsmen after a meeting in Abuja, the Secretary of the forum, Aliyu Mohammed, said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not making enough efforts to tackle the insecurity challenges in the FCT.
According to the report by Sahara Reporters, he said, “The FCT Minister is inviting the Israelis to come and provide security to Abuja.”
It should be recalled that a few months ago, Wike had said that his administration was willing to partner with Israel on agriculture and the security of Abuja.
During a visit of the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Michael Freeman, to his office in Abuja, Wike had said that Abuja had its own share of insecurity challenges, just like other major cities in the world, but was open to partnership with Israel to improve the security situation in the FCT.
