Insistence that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shelve his 2027 presidential ambition for Peter Obi has come from Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the Labour Party (LP). Kenneth Okonkwo had said, “You should have been saying if Atiku Abubakar had shelved his is political ambition, and this is exactly why I’m saying this; he has contested for six times, will he continue contesting forever?; two, he is above 70 years, the remaining part of his life is by the act of grace; and three, it is the time of the South by their own constitution, section 73-C-4, yes, Section 7-3-C — power rotation power shift. The northerners have had it for 8 years and it was the time for it to shift to the South, and the ruling party has keyed into that, yet you are in the opposition, Atiku Abubakar recognized that it was the turn of the South-East to produce the President…..”
