The Emir, according to Abubakar, was eloquent and fluent in English, but he neglected to address important problems facing the state, like the large number of unenrolled students and the presence of beggars on the streets.

Abubakar emphasised that it is not enough for leaders to present a polished image while neglecting the welfare and education of their people, particularly children. He stressed that true leadership involves tangible contributions to the community, not just eloquent speeches.

According to him, “Now you talk about the achievements of His Royal Highness, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, in a state where you have thousands of young ones out of school, what were his contributions? What did he do while he was Emir? Is it enough for you to come on air to speak English while your children don’t go to school?
