The verdict revealed the questionable practices of a degree mill in Cotonou, a significant city in the Benin Republic, and was based on a thorough undercover investigation carried out by a Nigerian newspaper. The investigative reporter, amazingly, completed his degree from Cotonou University in just six weeks and then enrolled in the National Youth Service Corps’ one-year required program.

In response to these revelations, the National Universities Commission (NUC) took swift action, delisting several foreign universities. The list, derived from data analysis on the NUC website, serves as a cautionary measure for the Nigerian populace, warning them against enrolling in these now-banned institutions.

Among the 18 universities banned by the NUC are:
