In recounting the political history of Nigeria, Zaid Ayuba, National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Council, notes that under the First Republic, the Igbo people of the South-East and the northern region were political partners. This is according to a report published in the Sun. He claims that the Igbo people “drifted away” from that union, though, and draws a comparison between politics and marriage, emphasizing the need of finding common ground with one’s spouse.
