In an interview with TVC, Shaibu emphasized the importance of Governor Obaseki’s support in his bid to become Governor. He explained that his composure and refusal to react adversely to the attacks against him and the incident where Governor Obaseki snubbed his greeting in Church were due to this need for support. He stated that even if Governor Obaseki were to slap him in public, he would not retaliate or attack the Governor in any way

In Shaibu’s words: “So my strategy is that If Obaseki slaps me in public like he did in Church where he refused my greeting, no problem. I won’t be angry; I will move on.
