If I am in a meeting and they attack the president when I come out, I will not join that press conference — According to Governor Umo EnoIn a video clip released by TVC on their official X handle, Umo Eno, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, addressed politicians who had recently defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and stated that he would not attend any press conference where the Nigerian president is being attacked by attendees. “When we start to fight the center, then the center can no longer hold,” the governor declared in an address to the decampees, “and the money that we should use in developing and running all these programs, we will now use it to fly to Abuja every day.”

Regarding the administration he took over from, he said, “The last administration that God made me take over from was a peaceful administration, and so there is continuity.

Pastor Eno emphasized that “without peace, there cannot be progress, so please, for those of you that were abusing us, don’t bring that spirit of abuse and begin to abuse people in authority. Drop that spirit; let’s work together. We have only one president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and we owe allegiance to him.

He further added that “maybe people don’t see me come out and begin to attack. No, I don’t do that.

On what he will do if the president is attacked, he said, “If I am in a meeting and they attack the president when I come out, I will not join that press conference. We must show respect, decency, and loyalty, and that way, everything that the president has promised us, God will touch his heart to give to us. You don’t abuse somebody and then turn around to want to go and benefit from the person.
