A man of truth, Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, declared in an interview that he would never back down from a challenge to speak the truth, even if it meant facing death. Rotimi Amaechi went on to say in an interview with Arise TV that one of his coworkers had told him that honesty is both his best and worst quality. He admitted that he had no idea why he always tells the truth, but it has always been that way in his memory.

“I say it like it is and I do it unknowingly; people just think I say things because I want to hurt them,” he said, contrasting himself with most Nigerian elites. No, that’s not how God raised me, and I have questioned God about why he did that. Even if you put a gun to my head, I’ll tell you the truth.
