I was glad to see people like Obasanjo, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and others stand their ground — According to Peter ObiVanguard reports that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, stated that the general elections of 2023 showed that Yorubas are not hostile to Igbos. Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, emphasized that the election was neither a Christian nor an Igbo agenda. He noted that the 2023 general elections saw Nigerians coming together across tribal and religious lines, dispelling the notion that Yorubas hate Igbos.

“The massive turnout in the election indicated that Nigerians desired change from the status quo,” he said. “It was a time that Nigerians united and spoke with one voice regardless of tribe, tongue, or religion. The 2023 election wasn’t a Christian or Igbo project. It was a Nigerian project. I saw our legends and elder statesmen come together for the first time. I was glad to see people like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and others stand their ground.”

Obi aimed to correct the misconception about Yoruba-Igbo relations, stating, “A lot of people made certain sacrifices because we just wanted to say ‘Enough is enough’ in Nigeria. Imagine those who had lost their lives for the cause of a new Nigeria.”

In the 2023 presidential election, Obi finished third, trailing behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the winner, President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
