A few Abuja kidnappers have been apprehended by the Nigerian Police Force. One of the suspects, whose identity the police suppressed, has admitted to switching from being a security guard to abduction mainly for financial gain. He acknowledged that he had engaged in illegal activities three times, two of which had taken place this year. He revealed that he had received N500,000 from the second victim and a portion of N600,000 from the ransom for the first victim who had been abducted in Bwari. He also revealed how he worked with his armed allies, whom he would contact to carry out the kidnapping mission together.

He said in a police parade reported by Channels TV, ”I was a security before I joined this kidnapping business. I joined this work because of money. I have only participated in it three times. I have carried out two jobs this year. I was given N600,000 share from the first person we kidnapped in Bwari. I collected 500,000 from the second person we kidnapped. Then the last person we kidnapped, we did not collect the money. I don’t use guns for the operation, we work together with other people who carry guns.
