However, he pointed out that given the current economic conditions, the demands of the Organized Labour movement are impractical at this time. He emphasized the potential consequences if these demands were to be fulfilled, stating that meeting them would entail a minimum wage of around 500,000 naira per month, representing nearly a twentyfold increase. He contended that such a significant wage hike would not only strain the government but also deeply affect all citizens across the nation.

He said in an interview with TVC, ”President Tinubu would love to have a minimum wage of N1M per month for every Nigerian. He would love to be able to do that. His administration does have the highest regard for our people and we believe that they do deserve the best. But we also recognize that there are economic realities and fundamentals within the country right now that do not support what the Organized Labour movement is advocating for.

And I want to be very clear about what the consequences would be if organized Labour got its way. Right now, there is this notion out there that this minimum wage conversation in this country is simply a conversation between executive administration and organized Labour about a new minimum wage for the Federal Civil service. That is not what we are talking about. We are talking about a new National minimum wage for every Nigerian citizen both within the formal economy as well as the informal economy. If Labour got its way, about 500,000 naira per month would be paid.
