Nyesom Wike, the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and governor of Rivers State, has stated that he would not grant contracts unless he had the funds to carry them out. The FCT Minister had said, “There’s no grammar there, there’s no grammar. I cannot be Minister, you will collect our money, you say you won’t do the job, you will do it, do you understand me? Because for me and my Honorable Minister of State, we don’t have time for dry season, we don’t have time for rainy season; because if you collect our money under rainy season, you must also work under rainy season; because you can’t keep our money in the bank, making interest and coming to tell us now is rainy season, give us back our money, then when dry season comes, we will give you back the money.”

Nyesom Wike, who was addressing FCT stakeholders and citizens, in a video posted on TVC Television, insisted that he would not take excuses from contractors.
