He claims that the main purpose of the measure is to modify the 1999 Constitution in order to add Orlu State, with Orlu as its capital, to the list of states in Nigeria. “I’m calling on my fellow members of the National Assembly to throw their support behind this bill as it heads for the next stage of review,” urged Hon. Ugochinyere passionately. “Creating Orlu State could also open doors for Ideato to become its own senatorial district, which would go a long way in addressing the imbalance in representation across the Southeast compared to other regions. It’s a crucial step towards fairer governance and representation.”

“This isn’t just about politics—it’s about giving our people in the Southeast a stronger voice and more opportunities for growth,” emphasized Hon. Ugochinyere. “If this bill gets the green light, Orlu State could be a game-changer, offering new avenues for development and progress in the region.
