According to political analyst Frank Tietie, allegations against Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, sprang from internal unhappiness within Bola Tinubu’s cabinet. According to Tietie, a few enraged individuals who were hurt by Edu’s investigation into the N44 billion transfer into a private account were the ones who made these claims public. In the interview, Tietie explained that people who were against Bola Tinubu’s administration had voiced their displeasure, which led to the revelation of the accusations.

Tietie claims that the displeased parties took advantage of the chance to attack Edu by drawing attention to her approval of the transfer of more than N500 million into a personal account, trying to draw a comparison with the matter they were being questioned about.

This revelation was revealed by Frank Tietie in an Arise Television interview with a few journalists. As stated by Frank Tietie in the interview, “the memo was released because there were disgruntled elements because somebody was queried for transferring N44 billion into a private account.”

The disgruntled individuals then said, “Why do you ask me to transfer N44 billion when you (Betta Edu) also approved the transfer of more than N500 million into a private account?,” in a manner akin to “kettle calling pot black.” The federation’s accountant general did not question the transfer because it is customary for them to do so.
