Soon after the Premier League season concluded, Bayer Leverkusen posted a picture on Twitter of former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka celebrating with the Bundesliga trophy.

The post, captioned “what a feeling” with a heart eyes emoji, appeared to gently rib Arsenal’s disappointment.

Xhaka, a crucial player for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen squad, played a significant role in their unbeaten season.

The Swiss international, 31, featured in 48 matches during his debut season, netting three goals.

Arsenal had congratulated Xhaka following Leverkusen’s title win, posting a message on social media expressing their pride in their former player. “We’re so proud of you, Granit,” the message read.

Mikel Arteta also praised Xhaka and Leverkusen. In comments made before Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich, Arteta said, “Big congrats to Xabi [Alonso] and Granit, as he was our player as well.
