To secure a spot in the European competition, United must now overcome Manchester City in the FA Cup Final at Wembley the following Saturday.
United had a chance to secure a European spot by finishing seventh, contingent on Newcastle dropping points at Brentford.
However, Newcastle controlled their match and secured a 4-2 win, rendering Diego Dalot’s goal in the 73rd minute against Brighton largely irrelevant.
Throughout the match, United struggled to dominate but were lifted by Rasmus Hojlund’s solo goal just two minutes from time, offering a morale boost ahead of their crucial cup final.

After the completion of the match, Manchester United’s Defender, Diogo Dalot was named the man of the match after his outstanding performance against Brighton.
