Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi, a former general officer commanding the 1st Division of the Nigerian Army, has considered the noteworthy advancements made under the late General Ibrahim Attahiru. He has observed that General Buratai, the former Chief of Army Staff, had originally predicted that the insurgency in Nigeria would cease in 20 years. He expressed that General Attahiru was wholeheartedly committed to ending insurgency in the country. He highlighted specific achievements within the one division area of responsibility, covering Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, and Yobe states.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”General Attahiru was committed wholeheartedly agree to ending Insurgency in the country. He had outlined so many strategies that would have led us to the promised land. His death without doubt truncated that effort. If his death was caused by external forces, then it was against the entire nation. General Attahiru’s death has dealt an heavy blow to security.
Look at what has happened, we were on the verge of achieving success. General Buratai said insurgency will last for 20 years, he later said General Attahiru was on track to end it. Look at where we are today. Take for instance the one division area of responsibility which covered Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, and Yobe state. There was tremendous progress that was achieved.
