Ganduje To Southeast: If Not Been Military Strike, Your Son Alex Ekwueme Would Have Become President

Speaking at an empowerment rally in Nnewi, Anambra State, organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra South, Ganduje noted that the Southeast nearly produced a president during the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme’s tenure as Shehu Shagari’s vice president.

He said that it was strongly believed that Alex Ekwueme was going to take over from Shagari. He added that if the military had not taken over power, Ekwueme would have become president.

According to the report by Daily Post, he said, “You know when your brother, Alex Ekwueme, was the Vice President to our brother, Shehu Shagari. The body language was there, and if not that the military struck, your son, Alex Ekwueme, would have become the President.

“I tell you this story because the road to political freedom is to key into the ruling party, and once you do that, marginalization would be a thing of the past.”

The former Kano State governor said that he was impressed by the huge crowd that came out for the rally, and that with the mobilization that Ifeanyi Ubah has done, he has seen that the Southeast region is ready to key into mainstream politics.

Speaking at the event, the organizer of the event, Ifeanyi Ubah, said that the people of Anambra State will not shy away from linking up with the centre by voting for the APC in next year’s election.
