Fuel Subsidy:When I sat with Tinubu he told me when he won election no money was on the ground—According to Daniel Bwala

PDP member Daniel Bwala has revealed the rationale President Tinubu provided him for the choice to immediately halt the fuel subsidy upon taking office. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

on a recent interview with TVC, Bwala revealed that during Tinubu’s visit to the Villa, he informed him on a seat next to him that there was not enough money to run the government efficiently after winning the presidency. He claimed Tinubu gave him two options: either eliminate the subsidy, which would be difficult for Nigerians but potentially bring in money, or maintain it in place, which would put the government in financial jeopardy. He claimed Tinubu also advised him that it is essential for a leader to make difficult decisions, especially when they are unpopular.

In Bwala’s words: “When I sat with Tinubu he told me when he won election no money was on the ground. Because there is no money, you had to hit the ground running, you can not go and borrow everything in life because Nigerians are already complaining about borrowing.

“So you are faced with two choices: Number one, you remove the subsidy which will then be tough on Nigerians but then there is a hope that you can generate revenue or not remove the fuel subsidy and in the next few months, the street will be flooded with people because the reality will dawn on Nigerians that we don’t have any money to run the government. Then he said as a leader, you will be faced with tough decisions and at that point, what will determine whether you are a leader or not is the courage to do that”. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
