He raised doubts about Wike’s long-term goals, asking if he plans to run for president or use his connections to the political establishment to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Given Tinubu’s success in Rivers state during the most recent election, Alaye contended that there should be no disagreement if Wike’s primary goal is to guarantee Tinubu’s reelection.
According to him, ”Wike said he wants to maintain his political structure ahead of 2027. We don’t know if he wants to contest for President or if he wants to use the structure to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The same Wike in the past election supported the President and he won in Rivers state. So if Wike’s interest is about Mr. President returning, I don’t think there is an issue in that. The Rivers people are saying that the FCT Minister should leave the governor alone to govern the state.
