FPRO says Car owners are supposed to have four documents, but states have introduced moreOn Thursday, June 6, 2024, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that all car owners are required to carry four documents when driving. He did, however, note that some additional documents have been adopted by various state governments. According to Adejobi, the documents expected to be with a car owner are the vehicle licence, driver’s licence, insurance as well as the electronic-Central Motor Registry (e-CMR).

Adejobi however added that there are some documents that have been introduced by state governments, adding that those documents vary across the states and car owners should have them if they are driving to those states.

He wrote: “Vehicle licence, drivers licence, insurance, e-CMR. However, there are some documents that have been introduced by state governments. In other words, they (documents) vary across the states. But from the central, the four above are key.”

Many motorists have always complained about the difficulty in driving from one state to another due to the fact that some officials of those states as well as policemen used to ask for some documents that they said are strange to them.

In fact, there have been reports that some states used to ask for such documents as allocation of number plates if a car owner drives his vehicle from Lagos State to any of the states.
