Governor Hope Uzodinma has voiced concerns on the activities of certain foreign oil companies operating in Nigeria, drawing comparisons between Warri, Delta State, and Houston, Texas, with regard to environmental issues. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In an interview with Channels TV, Governor Uzodinma emphasized the significant difference between the well-kept areas surrounding oil sites in Houston, US, where vegetables are cultivated, and the deteriorated areas surrounding oil sites in Warri, Delta State where the sea allegedly lacks fish. He questioned the ethical standards of these companies, emphasizing their disregard for Nigeria’s environmental laws. He also criticized what he described as a double standard, alleging that these companies employ environmentally friendly practices in other countries but adopt degrading methods within Nigeria.

In Uzodinma’s words: “If you go to Houston, landing Houston airport, you see oil locations and you see vegetables planted all over there, habitable for human existence. Fly to Warri, as you are landing Warri airport look at oil sites, no fish are in the sea, and the environment is degraded to criminal level. Are they what you call investors? People who have no regard for our environmental laws, people who now operate double standards. They use different applications in other countries and then apply degrading applications to Nigeria”.
