The Super Eagles aim to reclaim their status as the dominant force over their West African rivals following a historic defeat in their last World Cup qualifying match.

The Super Eagles have faced significant challenges in their preparations for the upcoming match, particularly following the departure of former coach Finidi George. The situation took an unexpected turn when the coach selected to replace him reversed his agreement due to disagreements over tax obligations.

In response, Austine Eguavoen, the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been appointed to lead the team in their upcoming matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, scheduled for September 7th and 10th, respectively. Eguavoen’s initial objective in Uyo will be to overcome the memories of his previous stint with the team during the World Cup qualifying playoffs, where they suffered a defeat to Ghana and missed the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup.

In an exclusive report, it has been revealed that interim coach Austine Eguavoen will implement five changes to the lineup that faced defeat against Benin under Finidi George, with two of these adjustments necessitated by player unavailability. Terem Moffi and Bright Osayi-Samuel will not be part of the squad, paving the way for Victor Boniface and Ola Aina to step into their positions.

Additionally, Benjamin Tanimu will be replaced by William Troost-Ekong, who will pair with Semi Ajayi in central defense, while Calvin Bassey transitions to the left-back role. Despite Maduka Okoye’s impressive performances for Udinese leading up to the match, Stanley Nwabali will retain his position as goalkeeper.

Samuel Chukwueze is set to move to the bench, making way for Moses Simon to take his place on the right flank. Furthermore, Frank Onyeka will replace Raphael Onyedika in the midfield.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
