On Boxing Day, Liverpool defeated Vincent Kompany’s team as well. The Reds defeated Burnley 2-0 with ease to take the top spot in the league.

In other games, Bournemouth defeated Fulham by 3 goals to nil to leapfrog Chelsea and move into 10th position, Nottingham Forest came from a goal down to defeat Newcastle United 3-1 at St James Park while Luton Town defeated Sheffield United by 3 goals to 2.
