On behalf of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero, human rights activist and attorney Femi Falana has answered to the Nigeria Police, outlining why Ajaero is unable to accept the police’s invitation to appear on August 20, 2024. Falana claimed that Ajaero had another appointment set for that day, which was finalized prior to receiving the police invitation on Monday, according to Vanguard Newspaper. Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also requested that the police provide details of the allegations against Ajaero, including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime. This request is in line with Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees the right to fair hearing.

In a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Falana emphasized that Ajaero is willing to cooperate with the police but needs more information about the allegations against him.
