Federal Government Resuming Payment of 35,000 Naira Wage Award and Assuring Payment of Outstanding Amounts

The Federal Government of Nigeria has started paying its domestic workforce the 35,000 Naira Wage award. Additionally, the federal government pledged to cover arrears for the months in which workers were not paid the 35,000 Naira wage award. According to Punch, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the minister of labor and employment, disclosed this information on Wednesday in the federal capital territory of Abuja during a meeting with the Congress of University Academics and the Trade Union Congress. The minister of Labour and Employment said “I am here specifically to reassure you that we have not forgotten about the agreements between the government and the trade unions. Thank God that you have confirmed that the government has started paying the 35,000 Naira wage award and I assure you that the payment is on course and the outstanding will be paid within a short period”.
