According to a recent Punch article, Mark stated that his wife has turned to prayer for consolation since Monica was kidnapped and has taken part in interviews to bring attention to the girls’ predicament. He reported that she had difficulty eating and frequently cried as they prayed for Monica to return safely. He added that she died while yelling the name of their daughter, Monica.

In Mark’s words: “Since my daughter was kidnapped, my wife has been going up and down praying in so many places. They often call her from Lagos for newspaper and radio interviews and she always goes. There are even pictures of her in the newspapers when she was crying. She cried while she was being interviewed. She was not able to eat, whenever we remembered Monica, she would shed tears.
