FAAN: I Shouted When They Showed Me They Spent ₦450m In 2023 on Plane Tickets Alone - According to Festus Keyamo

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), expressed shock at finding out that in 2023 officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) spent more over ₦450 million on airline tickets alone. Keyamo revealed in a Channels Television interview that some of the agency’s executives had to travel daily from Lagos to Abuja, which resulted in significant costs for simple duties like getting signatures or going to meetings. Keyamo elucidated that the frequent travel between Lagos and Abuja by these directors was not only logistically challenging but also resulted in significant additional costs for FAAN. Given this situation, the top officials approached the Minister, requesting relocation to Lagos to streamline their operations and curtail unnecessary expenses.

In his own words as seen on Channels Television tonight…

“So they fly every day from Lagos to Abuja, in one year, they showed me the book, they spent half a billion naira on plane tickets. To fly between Lagos to Abuja, Abuja to Lagos, they spent ₦450m on tickets alone. I shouted when I saw it and said what is this. The MD of course has an office here (Lagos) but she will need 1,2,3 persons and they will fly to Abuja on a daily basis, back and forth.
