Edo Poll: Philip Shaibu, I have the document of the money Godwin Obaseki budgeted for to win my ward

The deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has leveled grave accusations against Governor Godwin Obaseki in relation to the most recent governorship contest. Shaibu stated that Obaseki tried to sway the election by bringing N73 million into his ward, implying an attempt to purchase votes, in an interview with Arise TV. The veracity of the state’s election system is seriously called into question by this assertion.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In his statements, Shaibu accused the governor of manipulating the electoral system by encouraging people to transfer their polling units to his own. This alleged strategy resulted in Shaibu’s polling unit having the highest number of PVC voters, which he views as a clear attempt by Obaseki to sway the election in his favor. Such tactics, if true, could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

Shaibu expressed his discontent with Obaseki’s handling of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries. He stated that the governor disregarded other significant political figures within the party, including Dan Orbih, by sidelining nine out of ten contestants in the primaries. This lack of respect for party unity and the contributions of other leaders appears to have created divisions within the PDP.

In an interview, Shaibu elaborated on his views, arguing that Obaseki’s autocratic tendencies contributed to his downfall. He believes the governor’s attempt to enforce his agenda and his reliance on financial resources, which he lacked in 2016, demonstrate a shift in his approach to leadership. He remarked that he found humor in the governor’s efforts, indicating a belief that such attempts would ultimately fail to yield legitimate results.

He said, “He feels that he can bring N73M to my ward and make sure he wins my ward. I can show you the document of the money he budgeted for my ward to be able to win my ward.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
