According to Dikko Radda, the governor of Katsina State, banditry-related insecurity has not persisted in the country’s northern regions due to political motivations; rather, banditry thrives in these areas because of poverty.

Dikko Radda made this statement during an interview with a journalist on Channels Television. During the interview, Dikko Radda said, “what cause the recruitment of youths into banditry is poverty. Surprisingly, with N5,000, N2,000, or N500, you can convince some youths to join banditry. Now, banditry has turned out to be a business venture for criminals, some people who are in government, and some people who are security personnel.”

“These are some of the reasons we have not been able to bring an end to banditry. Those involved in banditry could be your driver, your househelp, your blood brother or your father. These are some of the things that is making banditry difficult to fight.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
